Description

CareLink is a non-profit network of senior care providers working together to ensure that adults in our community can access the services and support they need at the times when it matters most. CareLink provides multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services at St. Antoine’s Residence - a 200-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center located in North Smithfield, RI. In addition to state-of-the-art rehabilitation gym equipment, the rehab facility at St. Antoine’s Residence also has simulated kitchen, bath, and laundry facilities so rehab patients can practice everyday skills in a safe, therapeutic environment. We are looking for RI Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Medical Assistants (MA), or Certified Exercise Physiologists (CEP) to join our team in North Smithfield as a full-time Rehabilitation Aide Schedule is flexible ideally starting in the morning.

Compensation:

Rehabilitation Aide: $18-20/hr + benefits (see below for details)

Additional $2.50/hr language pay differential for employees that are fluent in more than one language (must pass fluency assessment)

Additional $5.00/hr pay differential for employees in direct patient care positions on weekend shifts

Position Overview: The Rehabilitation aide is responsible for supporting the rehabilitation program by carrying out administrative and therapeutic tasks as directed by the Rehabilitation Program Manager and/or Director of Rehabilitation. This individual will carry out tasks geared towards improving rehabilitation efficiencies, providing hands on care to support licensed therapists when needed, assisting with restorative nursing programs, and instructing exercise groups.


Position Overview: The Rehabilitation aide is responsible for supporting the rehabilitation program by carrying out administrative and therapeutic tasks as directed by the Rehabilitation Program Manager and/or Director of Rehabilitation. This individual will carry out tasks geared towards improving rehabilitation efficiencies, providing hands on care to support licensed therapists when needed, assisting with restorative nursing programs, and instructing exercise groups.


Essential Functions:

  • Under the direction of the Program Manager and Director of Rehabilitation, optimize physical ability skills among patients in facilities:
  • Transport, transfer and move patients as directed by supervisors and licensed therapists as needed;
  • Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for treatments;
  • assist with patient care as needed;
  • Assist in patient scheduling;
  • Maintain awareness of change in patient population, programs and patient conditions and inform licensed personnel;
  • Other tasks as needed/as directed.
  • Under the direction of the Program Manager and Director of Rehabilitation, build a strong rehabilitative care practice within each facility:
  • Establish and maintain good working relations with patients and families;
  • Adheres to the requirements of the patient’s Bill of Rights;
  • Maintain confidentiality of facility, patient and client information;
  • Adheres to appropriate dress code for assigned facility and work environment.
  • Under the direction of the Program Manager and Director of Rehabilitation, assist in restorative aide programming throughout contracted facilities:
  • Establish and maintain good working relations with key facility Restorative staff;
  • Assist in training certified nursing assistants as restorative aides;
  • Assist in monitoring and ensuring restorative program compliance in facilities;
  • Provide general education and feedback to restorative nursing staff as needed.
  • Under the direction of the Program Manager and Director of Rehabilitation, carry out exercise groups in contracted facilities:
  • Coordinate group schedules with appropriate facility staff;
  • Carryout exercise groups per schedule independently;
  • Modify group exercises based on patient acuity under the general supervision of rehab staff;
  • Maintain communication with wellness supervisor and complete reports as instructed.

Administrative Responsibility:

  • Ensure that adequate office supplies and supplies for treatments are maintained;
  • Completes forms and records, makes copies, obtains necessary signatures;
  • Ensures that written and oral communications are directed to appropriate personnel.
Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual Acuity – average acuity acceptable. Must be able to use visually oriented office/medical equipment. Must be able to read and complete forms. Must be able to visually assess patient status and response to treatment.
  • Auditory Acuity – average acuity acceptable. Must be able to communicate person to person and via telephone.
  • Hand and Eye Coordination – average coordination acceptable. Must be able to deliver patient care and adequately manipulate equipment as it relates to Rehab services. Must be able to perform basic office tasks such as writing and computer equipment.
  • Hand Dexterity – average dexterity acceptable. Must be able to adequately perform hand movements in the categories as follows: fine/gross manipulation, simple/firm grasping.
  • Full Body Mobility – ability to work at a fast pace. Must be able to maneuver upper body adequately in order to lift one to twenty-five (25) pounds on a regular basis from floor to waist; from waist to shoulder and up to ten (10) pounds from shoulder overhead. Ability to carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds with assistance as needed. Occasional bends and twists, 30% standing, 30% walking, 38% sitting and 2% climbing, kneeling and crawling. Must be able to move/mobilize a varying population including 20% obese. Must be able to balance on legs. Must know limits to physical strength and secure and direct assistance when needed. Must demonstrate good body mechanics at all times.
  • Follow Through – must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Safety – may not pose a threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace. Must be drug-free.
  • Works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment on a carpeted and/or tiled work surface.
  • May be exposed to occasional slippery floors, objects on floors, chemicals and sharp objects.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
  • May be subjected to stressful situations.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Minimum high school education or equivalent;
  • Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Exercise Physiologist;
  • At least one year experience working with older adults.
  • Interest in working with all abilities including the intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) population
  • Must possess a valid and current driver license and auto insurance.
  • Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
