RESPOND, Inc. is looking for a Cook for one of our Early Learning Centers in North Camden. This position prepares ingredients in order to serve food, produces meals as specified, and helps clean their workspace throughout the day to follow health and safety guidelines. The Cook follows recipes consistently, adjusts based on requests, and communicates with Assistant Cook and Center Director as needed to fulfill their role. This is a 30 hour per week position, non-exempt, Monday through Friday.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works with Cook Assistant and Center Director to ensure efficient run of the kitchen
  • Ensures ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Checks the quality and freshness of ingredients
  • Follows recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
  • Bakes, grills, steams and boils meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
  • Occasionally serves food
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handles and stores ingredients and food
  • Maintains food safety and sanitation standards
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment and utensils
  • Executes opening and closing procedures
  • Sets up workstation with required ingredients and equipment
  • Monitors station inventory levels
  • Accommodates special requests
  • Operates kitchen equipment and appliances such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers, cutters, knives, and mixers

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in kitchen operations
  • Understanding of food health and safety regulations
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher education required
  • One year of expereince as Cook required
  • Training from a culinary school preferred


Compensation:

  • $17 per hour
