Job Summary: The Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by preparing ingredients and performing various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of food service. This role involves chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, assembling dishes, and ensuring that all ingredients are ready for the line cooks and chefs. The Prep Cook must be detail-oriented, efficient, and committed to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Full-time and Part-time opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ingredient Preparation: Wash, peel, chop, and portion vegetables, fruits, and proteins according to recipes and specifications.
  • Food Assembly: Assist in assembling and prepping dishes, including sauces, dressings, and garnishes, as directed by the chef or kitchen manager.
  • Station Maintenance: Set up and maintain workstations with necessary tools, equipment, and ingredients; ensure work areas are clean and organized.
  • Stock Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of ingredients, notifying the kitchen manager or chef when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Food Safety: Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of ingredients to prevent cross-contamination and spoilage.
  • Equipment Handling: Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, such as knives, peelers, and food processors, with care and precision.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient food preparation and service.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong knife skills, basic cooking techniques, and knowledge of food safety practices.
  • Efficiency: Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for long periods, lift and carry heavy items, and handle the physical demands of the role.

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary school education or relevant certifications a plus.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
