Cambridge, United States Context Labs Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary:

Senior UX Designer

Cambridge, MA (Hybrid); Houston, TX (Hybrid)

About this position:
Context Labs is looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer to integrate art, technology, and engineering to identify, create, and support the client and partner interactions with the Context Labs’ products and brand. This is a senior role requiring a unique mixture of hands-on skills with a high degree of conceptual understanding. This demands a wide range of talent and experiences across disparate skill sets.  You are passionate and possess a depth of skills across four categories: Leadership, Creativity, Design, and Engineering.

In this role you will:

  • Design scalable and maintainable UI/UX layouts for Context Labs’ Decarbonization as a Service™ platform, built on our Immutably™ Data Fabric technology.
  • Work closely with product managers, UI engineers, product marketers, and business developers to help gather product UI requirements, collect user feedback, prototype, and test new product features.
  • Lead whiteboard/brainstorming sessions through facilitated discussion and visual notetaking.
  • Create sketches, wireframes, storyboards, journey maps, and/or prototypes to get user feedback into product design early and often.
  • Document and maintain style guides, etc. for the products and company brand.
  • Apply classical art principles such as balance, proportion, emphasis, and variety.
  • Leverage the elements of art: line, shape, form, value, space, texture, and color.
  • Understand how design and art need to work together in a practical application of usability.
  • Organize work based on project requirements and clearly articulate direction and expectations.
  • Understand and leverage Agile principles both conceptually and applied (i.e., JIRA)
  • Understand users and context of users’ interactions.
  • Use research when appropriate to inform design decisions.
  • Know and use graphic programs to produce visual assets.
  • Work closely with Product Marketing to incorporate good branding and design principles into outbound materials.
  • Work with leadership to guide the overall direction of UX considerations across the organization.
  • Visualize complex data, including charts, tables, and busy navigation elements.
  • Prioritize a strong focus on data visualization, leveraging your experience in the field.

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in graphic design, interaction design, or User Experience design.
  • Experience with all the tools and disciplines of UX Design: interactive prototypes, visual design mockups, journey maps and workflows, user-testing methods, persona development using Figma (and related tools).
  • Experience with Product Metrics tools – e.g., MixPanel, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Understand the technical capabilities and limitations of a modern, web-based application stack.
  • Big picture orientation with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to think in terms of what the technology can do without limiting the options or prematurely optimizing the design.
  • Ability to face problems/issues that require a deep understanding of the products with a strong analytical ability and outstanding perseverance to drive activities through to completion.
  • Ability to communicate detailed information clearly and concisely (both verbally and in writing) to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High-level end-to-end understanding of modern application architectures.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Design, or similar area of study.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in graphic design, interaction design, or User Experience design.

Why you’ll like it here:

  • Context Labs is collaborative at its core. You’ll work within your team and across the organization allowing for continuous learning and discovery.
