JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Housing Navigator

Classification: Non- exempt

Supervised By: Manager, Team Leader II


Job Summary: Conducts landlord recruitment and retention services to assist clients in obtaining housing


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conducts outreach in the community to recruit and retain landlords

2. Provides assistance in addressing barriers to ongoing participation of landlords in the program

3. Conducts client assessments consistent to determine housing needs

4. Collaborates with case manager and client to develop housing case plan with ongoing monitoring and follow-up on progress towards those goals.

5. Assists clients to find and secure sustainable housing

6. Maintains a flexible working schedule to accommodate families’ schedule.

7. Maintains accurate and timely case records documenting all services provided.

8. Maintains monthly reporting and data entry as required by the contract, including achievement of productivity goals.

9. Assures security of confidential information and materials.

10. Networks and develops relationships with various community service agencies.

11. Attends agency, program and collaborative meetings as assigned.

12. Accepts direction and reports to team leader for direct supervision.

13. Attends and participates in training as appropriate.

14. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, psychology, education and/or related human services field. Specialized training/expertise in area relevant to position. Demonstrated experience in in-home, low income, family-based services and/or commensurate experience may qualify. Knowledge: Knowledge of community resources. Abilities: Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity. Ability to provide support, structure, empathy, sound judgement, insight into human behavior and family relations. Skills: Effective communication and leadership skills required. Must be a team player and be able to work independently. Computer literate as appropriate.. Other Requirements: Must have a valid California driver’s license, insurance and a reliable vehicle and be willing to use it on the job.


Physical Demands:

Ø Sitting for long periods of time in the homes of client families, in the office or at required meetings.

Ø Daily traveling in car to clients or to agency and community meetings.

Ø Frequent note taking and recording in case files by hand.


Work Environment:

Ø Office space is shared.

Ø The noise level fluctuates from quiet to noisy.
