Summary:
Performs preventative maintenance and repairs of all equipment to ensure proper operating, function, safety and sustainability of park equipment. Keeps records related to equipment repairs, damages, and preventive maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned
- Perform appropriate preventative maintenance work.
- Perform routine functions of maintenance and repairs of all equipment including: mowing equipment, tractors, riding mowers, push mowers, small engines (2 stroke, 4 stroke & diesel), skid steers, automotive equipment, hydraulic equipment, and other heavy equipment.
- Keep all mowing equipment operable and maintained.
- Maintain shop working area in neat, orderly fashion and observe working conditions in compliance with all appropriate safety and compliance laws.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate inventory of necessary items to perform all tasks related to preventive maintenance and common repairs for all equipment.
- Assist in maintaining equipment documentation and damage reporting information.
- Offer advice on better technique and/or training required to promote the longevity of all equipment.
- Continue education in all areas related to grounds equipment maintenance in the form of schooling and certifications to keep current with industry standards.
- Facilitate communication between all staff related to equipment usage.
- Assist all departments with mechanical needs based on business needs.
- Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Supervisor on training, proper use of and safety of all equipment with entire staff.
- Assist with proper equipment inspections and ensure that daily procedure for equipment use and proper documentation are followed.
- Work with operators by listening to complaints and feedback to ensure equipment is running properly.
- Conduct regular inspections of all equipment to ensure no damage or repair is being overlooked by the operators.
- Monitor equipment damages by operators and notify Park Grounds Mechanic accordingly.
- Review Equipment Logs and submit reports to their Supervisor.
- Assist with development of a training program for new operators with proper documentation.
Preferred qualifications and education requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree from a two-year college or university preferred, or two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A valid driver’s license.
- Three years minimum experience of maintaining grounds maintenance equipment.
- Working knowledge of fluid hydraulics, automotive electronics, gas and welding, fabrication of specialty tools, gas and diesel engines, and basic electrical circuitry.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems.
- Ability to keep current with industry trends and training.
- Ability to identify/diagnose basic parts, components, and systems of equipment that make it function.
- Ability to perform correct diagnosis of faulty systems to equipment, and to be able to interpret or read basic hydraulic and electrical schematics for continued diagnosis.
