Position Summary:

 

As a member of the warehouse operations team at First Star Safety, this role requires a detail-oriented individual who can interpret design specifications, operate fabrication tools, and produce high-quality signs that meet regulatory and company standards. The successful candidate will be accountable for timely production, minimizing waste, and ensuring safety procedures are consistently followed. This role also assists warehouse staff, as needed.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Sign Fabrication
    • Process design requests by project deadline
    • Interpret and work from design specifications to fabricate road and traffic signs.
    • Operate machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.
    • Ensure signs meet local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.
    • Prepare and organize orders to ensure they are ready for customer pick-up or deployment.
  • Quality Control
    • Process design requests by project deadline
  • Follow sign request guidelines
  • Conduct regular inspections of fabricated signs for accuracy, clarity, and quality.
  • Work closely with the sales team and other departments to ensure sign specifications are clear and achievable.
  • Provide feedback on potential design improvements or fabrication processes.
  • Address any inconsistencies or defects and rectify them promptly.
  • Check the items awaiting pick up and ensure items are pulled and prepared for pick up as well as labeled with a copy of the ticket at will call.
  • Regularly check “to be made bin” to see if any of these items were made the previous day or if they are orders that need to be worked on.
  • Then check your items to be delivered and coordinate when they need to be delivered.
  • Coordinate with inventory teams to ensure stock availability.
  • Warehouse Maintenance:
    • Dust and stock shelves
    • Monitor inventory levels and notify the procurement team of any low-stock items.
    • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment.
    • Perform regular checks and basic maintenance on machinery and tools to ensure operational efficiency.

Safety:

  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Promptly report any unsafe conditions or incidents.

 

Performance Expectations/KPIs:


  • Production Efficiency: Number of signs fabricated per shift/hour.
  • Quality: Percentage of signs passing quality control checks on the first inspection.
  • Safety: Number of days without a safety incident or violation.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Discrepancy rate between physical inventory counts and inventory records.
  • Waste Reduction: Percentage of material wastage reduction compared to previous periods.

 

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in sign fabrication or a similar role is a plus.
  • Proficient in using fabrication machinery and hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and execute design specifications.
  • Knowledge of road and traffic sign regulations is an advantage.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.
