San Francisco, United States Unreal Gigs Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Position Overview

Our ideal candidate brings over 7 years of experience in premium residential interior design, showcasing exceptional skills in both presentation and technical drafting. The Senior Designer will operate under the guidance of the Principal Designer to manage all stages of the design process—from initial concept through construction management. This role involves leading junior designers in creating visual representations of designs and ensuring alignment with both the Principal's and clients' visions. The Senior Designer will also oversee a team responsible for project execution, client interactions, and coordination with contractors and vendors.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop initial space plans and design concepts that meet client needs, informed by a deep understanding of interior design principles and human psychology.
  • Engage continuously with clients to capture their vision and feedback, ensuring the final design faithfully represents their aspirations.
  • Mentor and develop junior designers, promoting a team culture that values innovation and collaborative growth.
  • Address and resolve design challenges proactively, crafting solutions that harmonize aesthetics, functionality, and practicality to ensure project success and client fulfillment.
  • Commit to transparency in all dealings, providing clients with clear, upfront information about budgets and timelines to foster trust and integrity.
  • Regularly update and manage personalized client budgets and timelines, presenting these updates during client meetings.
  • Conduct thorough research and coordinate the development of all contract documents including design presentations, concept boards, renderings, detailed floor plans, elevations, and full construction drawing sets.
  • Prepare detailed specifications and schedules, ensuring all aspects of the project from millwork to accessories are perfectly aligned with the design intent.
  • Lead site visits, oversee product inspections, and manage construction administration tasks to maintain design integrity.
  • Ensure all construction documents comply with local building and fire codes, as well as any other relevant regulations.
  • Manage the interior design resource library and maintain up-to-date vendor contacts for sourcing interior furnishings, fixtures, and finishes.
  • Work collaboratively with external consultants, including architects and engineers, to integrate all aspects of the interior design.
  • Monitor project implementation, reporting progress and coordinating final inspections to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Prepare and manage project financials, including cost analyses and billing, aligning with project contracts and additional service requests.
  • Efficiently lead and direct project designers, assistants, and interns, demonstrating exemplary management and communication skills.
  • Collaborate with the Principal to plan project scopes, schedules, budgets, and significant milestones.

Requirements

  • Degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in interior design, with a focus on high-end residential projects.
  • Strong background in the coordination and management of detailed construction drawing sets, and a thorough understanding of construction practices, detailing, and codes.
  • Expertise in selecting and specifying high-quality materials and finishes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, SketchUp, or other relevant 3D modeling software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Capability to perform detailed site measurements and documentation.

Core Competencies

  • Client-Centric: Provides exceptional service that exceeds clients' expectations.
  • Integrity: Upholds the company's values and principles, ensuring designs reflect client style at the highest level.
  • Resilience: Maintains professionalism under pressure and adapts to challenging situations.
