In this role you'll be responsible and accountable for daily operations of the Med/Surg and Emergency departments; advocate and allocate resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, quality and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice; integrate clinical, human resource, and financial data to support decision making; promote research and integrates evidence-based practice into clinical, operational, and leadership processes; and ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing, required, bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred.
  • State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse license, or ability to obtain, required.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification, required.
  • Current ACLS certification or ability to obtain, required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hospital nursing experience, required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervision/leadership experience, preferred.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Demonstrating leadership through supervision, facilitation, and coordination of clinical care.
  • Collaborating with nursing leadership in organizational planning, innovations, and evaluation of initiatives.
  • Contributing to the professional development of staff, students, and colleagues in an environment of mutual respect and understanding.
  • Participating as a member of the team to achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrating standards of a Professional Nurse who practices according to the OMC Behavioral Standards.
  • Recruiting, welcoming and encouraging new employees to be successful, by creating a friendly and supportive environment that promotes growth and learning in order to retain and acclimate colleagues to the OMC culture.

Knowledge, Abilities & Skills

  • Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments.
  • Ability to educate staff.
  • Ability to provide counseling and emotional support with compassion and respect for the individual.
  • Ability to provide support to the members of the care team (teamwork).
  • Must possess initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records.
