Kids In Crisis is Connecticut's ONLY free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises, including domestic violence, mental health and family problems, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more.


We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant with experience using Sage 50 accounting software to join our finance team. The Junior Accountant will report to the Director of Finance, and play a key role in assisting with various accounting tasks and maintaining accurate financial records. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior-level accounting professional looking to gain experience in a fast-paced and dynamic non-profit agency.


Responsibilities:


Accounting Operations:

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and process vendor invoices, expense reports, and employee reimbursements.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of bank accounts, credit card statements, fixed assets, and other financial accounts.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, budgets, forecasts and ad hoc reports.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audit, tax filings and grant applications.
  • Assist with the analysis of financial data and variance explanations.

Sage 50 Administration:

  • Maintain and update financial records and transactions in Sage 50, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the implementation and optimization of Sage 50 modules and features as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in accounting processes and Sage 50 workflows.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience related to a computerized accounting system, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, financial reports and spreadsheet analysis.
  • Experience using Sage 50 software strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must as this is a spreadsheet-intensive environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Schedule:

Part-time position, averaging 20 hours per week.


Compensation:

We offer a competitive pay rate of $20.00 - $30.00 per hour, based qualifications and experience.
