RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Essential –

 

  • Perform miscellaneous painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical maintenance.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and communicate work schedules of summer crews as well as contractors.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and an organized shop.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on bids and vendor pricing, maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Work as a team with all facilities personnel.
  • Develop, recommend, and suggest new ideas and techniques for completing or improving assigned tasks.
  • Serve actively on campus committees.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

 

Secondary –

 

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Facilities and/or the Facilities Department Coordinators.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • General knowledge of the following trades required: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Maintenance experience required.
  • Good driving record required.
  • The ability to work professionally with the public is required.
  • A positive attitude is required, and must be neat, clean, and organized. Portraying a positive image to students and community members is also required.
  • Skilled in observing situations, making decisions, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Good communication both verbally and written is required.
  • Computer skills include Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Physical requirements include excellent vision; excellent eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to operate equipment, and the ability to assist in lifting heavy objects (possibly up to 100 pounds). May work in adverse conditions such as weather, possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue, and communicable disease.  The ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal.  Use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations.
  • This job is predominately an indoor/outdoor work environment/medium to heavy physical demands capacity.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.

HOURLY RATE of PAY and STATUS:

 

The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration.  This full-time supportive staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and non-exempt.
