Job Summary:

We are seeking a talented Director of Sourcing to join our team. The Director of Sourcing is responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic vision to achieve best practice performance ultimately supporting a diverse customer base. Clearly communicate that vision translated into practical, tactical actions, and effectively deploy the sourcing team to achieve objectives.
  • Focus on managing strong supplier relationships and maintain reliable sources of supply. Implement and manage long term agreements which deliver best in class quality, delivery, and total cost.
  • Evaluate potential and existing sources for manufacturing capability, quality system, management and financial stability, cost competitiveness and responsiveness.
  • Actively partner with key strategic suppliers to develop two-way collaborative relationships that deliver greater levels of innovation, quality, and operational competitive advantage.
  • Research alternate sources of supply. Present opportunities with cross functional teams and make recommendations for alternate suppliers to improve quality, customer service, and costs.
  • Request and analyze quotations and bids. Promote the need to share cost break down analysis to aide negotiations of per unit cost, commanding best overall cost and commercial terms.
  • Leverage company large global platform, negotiate and manage complex business agreements and contracts including but not limited to productivity, rebates, acceptable quality standards, service, and payment terms, for the North American supply base.
  • Manage company New Product Implementation (NPI) department including purchasing activities, new product development and qualification, achieving time-line objectives.
  • Analytical skills – Ability to focus on measurable data and analyze, recognizing where the

largest opportunity exists. (Pareto rules)

  • Ability to listen – Taking the time to listen and as necessary, filter most valuable content.
  • Ability to adapt – Priorities can change and ability to adapt to changing circumstances can dictate success.

  • Must Haves:
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Engineering, or related technical field. Specific course work in purchasing, materials management, engineering, or quality assurance a plus.
  • Familiarity of Lean principals to identify potential areas of improvement.

  • Minimum 7 years purchasing or related experience, including proven capability using advanced procurement principles and supply chain management.
  • Experience with commodity management, finished goods and sourcing required. APICS CSCP certification a plus.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes, capabilities and capacity for fasteners and hardware including metal cold heading, die casting, stamping, and machining.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.
  • Must exhibit strong negotiating skills and demonstrate proven success.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills are a necessity.
  • Seeking an aggressive, determined individual with excellent organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 20%.
  • International sourcing/supply chain development a plus.
  • Communicate organizations appropriate KPI’s, measure performance and redirect resources as needed. Actively present current market conditions and effects on cost, quality and service related to the North America supply base.
  • Ensure supplier operations are complying with company’s values and government requirements in terms of labor and environmental standards.
  • Proactively manage cost creep from un-announced supplier cost increases, resolve invoice discrepancies and rectify other related problems.
  • Responsible for coaching and development of subordinates. Write appraisal reviews and handle all department employee relations issues

capital, DRP, etc.

  • Financial basics – Balance between working capital and income. Basic understanding of cash management.
