Reports To: Program Manager

Work Model: Hybrid, working 3 days per week on-site

The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is the only culturally specific non-profit organization in New York City serving Latinx survivors of domestic and sexual violence, the vast majority of whom are immigrants. Created as a grassroots response to domestic and sexual violence, VIP has always centered survivors in its leadership and has worked to create a community of staff that reflects the rich national, ethnic and racial diversity of the communities it serves. VIP operates three community-based social service programs, two residential shelter and housing programs, a bilingual helpline, innovative economic justice, sexual violence, and child & adolescent programs, and a robust community engagement team.

The Social Worker, for the Child and Adolescent Program, is compassionate and committed to providing trauma-informed practices to families impacted by domestic violence. The social worker will support design and implementation of clinical interventions, including Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI), and help adapt them to include culturally affirming practices for Latinx families. Under the supervision of the Program Manager and VIP’s Data Team, the social worker will support the collection and analysis of data connected to the impact of client services and participate in a rigorous program evaluation. Social workers will support the development of guidelines and trainings to inform systems change with partner organizations, including health care, nutrition and head start programs and improve VIP’s overall response to children and adolescents impacted by domestic violence. The social worker is supervised by a licensed master of social work or mental health counselor. Ideal candidates embrace values of diversity, cultural humility, teamwork, and community empowerment. This is an excellent opportunity to combine clinical, program management and training skills in a supportive, community-centered, and survivor-focused organization.
