About Jerritt Canyon
First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining friendly state of Nevada. The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972 and first gold production from the property occurred in 1981.
The Jerritt Canyon Gold District is located in Elko County, northeastern Nevada. The Carlin-type gold mineralization at Jerritt Canyon is hosted by silty carbonate or carbonaceous siliciclastic rocks originally deposited as shelf sedimentary rocks during the Paleozoic Era.
The Opportunity
Jerritt Canyon is looking for a Mobile Maintenance Mechanic. Mechanics will be assigned to maintenance and repair for every type of vehicle and equipment on site. Crew sizes at JCG make it imperative that a versatile mechanic can work alone and with other departments to complete tasks.
Responsibilities
- Conducting safety checks
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic failures
- Hose repairs
- Performing scheduled preventative maintenance
- Major component repairs and replacement
- Operate and inspect vehicles or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs
- Use engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Weld, braze or solder broken parts and structural members using electric or gas welders and Soldering tools
- Repair and replace tires.
- Install and uninstall tire chains
- Fabricate needed parts or items as required
- Complete preventative maintenance packets, word orders and hourly completion sheets
- Exhibit a strong work ethic with the drive and desire to learn and perform tasks efficiently
- Maintain effective and collaborative workplace relationships, treating others with dignity and respect
Education and Experience
- Trade school or college degree or certificate in heavy-duty mechanics
- At least three years' experience servicing heavy-duty equipment, preferably in a mining environment
- Diesel Technician's Degree preferred
