Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Mindcare Solutions is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic team for 30 hours per week of Correctional coverage. Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide all psychiatric services for inmates at Escambia County Corrections facilities
  • Responsible for providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and consultation to the Mental Health Counselors on staff
  • Formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans based on clinical findings 
  • Daily, as needed, Infirmary-level Rounds and Assessment of acutely suicidal patients for determining level of care
  • The contractor's responsibilities will include both inpatient and outpatient services along with both direct (preferred not required) and indirect contact with patients (inmate), as well as after-hours and weekend support for urgent clinical matters or medication orders.
  • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will prescribe and administer psychiatric medications as necessary 
  • Monitor and adjust medication regimens to optimize effectiveness and minimize side effects 
  • Implement therapeutic techniques to address a wide range of psychiatric conditions 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards through County's electronic medical records software system, currently CorrecTek Spark
  • Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all assessments and interventions 
  • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance mental health care services
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes

Requirements:

  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse; completion of Advanced Practice Nurse Program for Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Mental Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the Florida
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with adults
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children and adolescents
  • Ability to obtain the required security clearance through a required National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) background check and County drug screening at the County's expense
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Active and unrestricted DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team 
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards in long-term care facilities 
  • Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners will maintain clinical competency & collaboration with Psychiatrist (we will provide) 
  • Direct experience with long-term care communities is preferred as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Active and unrestricted driver's license
