Perimeter is seeking a Patient Advocate/Quality Coordinator/Medical Supply Officer. This position is designed to provide the appropriate level of care through to maintain patients’ rights by educating patients, responding to patient and patient family concerns, resolving patient issues and reporting unresolved issues by taking a proactive and engaging approach with patients starting upon admission.

Essential Job Role and Responsibilities:
  • Keeping the patient and their family up to date on complaint and grievance communication.
  • Listening to patient and patient’s family complaints/grievance, documenting patient complaints and taking necessary steps to resolve them.
  • Assist the patient and/or patient’s family or guardian communicate facts associated with their concern(s) to the applicable department supervisor or leader, assist with developing acceptable resolutions, and providing follow-up of outcomes.
  • Maintains a log for all complaints and grievances.
  • Lead the resolution of complaints by directing them to a physician, supervisor, and/or department leader.
  • Alerts Quality/Risk Management and department leaders of unresolved complaints/grievances and potential legal actions; and providing follow-up of outcomes.
  • Completes required grievance and complaint with written documentation response and sends the responses to patient’s parent or guardian within the required timeframes.
  • Maintains patient and family confidence by keeping complaint and grievance information confidential.
  • Collects and prepares PI data for reporting to PI committee monthly/quarterly/annually.
  • Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing patient complaint processes, implementing changes to modifying practices that cause repeated complaints.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Assist with reviewing social media sources to ensure complaints or grievance postings are addressed.
  • Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Patient Advocate:
  • Understands the difference between a Grievance and Complaint and addresses both according to regulatory requirements.
Quality Coordinator:
  • Rounds units each day to collect Incident Reports and Patient Satisfaction forms
  • Enters all incident reports into the Quality Converge System
  • Enters Patient Satisfaction and Outcome data into spreadsheets 
  • Sends monthly reports to the CEO and Quality Director with Patient Satisfaction and Outcome tabulated data
Medical Supply Officer:
  • Establishes a PAR level in the Central Supply room and on the units
  • Inventories medical supplies weekly
  • Orders needed medical supplies
  • Stocks needed medical supplies on the units
  • Restocks Central Supply with delivered medical supplies

Required Education and/or Experience:
  • High school degree or equivalent is required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare related field preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of emotional and social factors that affect a patient’s health.
  • Ability to manage time sufficiently to achieve established goals.
  • Proficiency with software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Two (2) years of behavioral health care experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CPR certification and Handle With Care Training (HWC) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
