We currently are searching for an individual who is seeking an opportunity to serve Tarrant County and learn from professionals in our Communication and Marketing department during the Fall Semester of 2024. The exact dates of the internship will be determined with the successful candidate and our Chief Communication and Marketing Officer.
Applications must be submitted to UWTC by August 20. Qualified applicants will be considered and contacted in early September.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working closely with members of the Marketing and Communications Team to perform duties of the internship
- Creating social media/digital content
- Writing feature stories and blog content for the website
- Assisting with the execution of special events
- Effectively presenting information and responding to questions from internal colleagues
- Supporting the mission and values of United Way of Tarrant County
Qualifications and Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
To perform successfully in this internship, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Qualified applicants will possess a High School diploma and will currently be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate college or university program. Applicants pursuing a marketing-related college degree preferred.
- Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish or another language preferred
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, with strong presentation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and consideration
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively
- Demonstrated computer proficiency. Experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred
- Must be extremely reliable, able to meet deadlines and follow through on commitments
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with people from diverse cultures and life circumstances; ability to successfully manage differing interests and viewpoints
- Office organization/management/administrative skills
- Ability to use strategic thinking and good judgment
- High degree of accuracy in all work and documentation
- An individual with the utmost professional and personal integrity
- Personal values consistent with United Way mission
- Additional duties as assigned
Work Hours/Environment: We are anticipating the internship hours to be 15-35 hours per week, as mutually determined by UWTC and the intern. Hours will be Monday-Friday between 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., with exact times to be determined by the intern and our Chief Communication and Marketing Officer. Although occasional remote work is permitted for this internship, the primary work location for this position is at the UWTC main office in Fort Worth. The work environment is representative of a traditional office and those which will be encountered while performing the duties of the internship.

United Way of Tarrant County brings people together to build strong communities where everyone thrives. As a nonprofit leader, we help communities tackle tough challenges and work with private, public and nonprofit partners to boost education, financial stability and health resources. We also serve as the regional grantee for Tarrant County’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA), invest in and maintain a cooperative relationship with the state’s 2-1-1 call center and provide support to local veterans, active military personnel and their families through our partnership with the Texas Veterans Network.
United Way of Tarrant County and AAA employ approximately 75 people dedicated to our mission. We celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2022 and are ready to serve Tarrant County for years to come.
