Job Summary:
Perform daily mechanical activities of equipment. Repairs and performs preventive maintenance to ensure proper performance of all Rabine Paving equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties consist of the following:
- Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems
- Maintains records and repair data in HCSS Equipment software program
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Has the ability to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions
- Attended all in-service training classes and professional development as required
- Submit to Drug and Alcohol Testing as required
- Establish and maintain preventive maintenance schedules
- Maintain shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition
- Order supplies and maintain accurate records
- Participate in annual inventory of physical equipment and supplies
- Work irregular hours and respond to after- hours emergency calls as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- This is skilled mechanical work at entry level in the maintenance and repair of small engines and related equipment, also trucks, trailers and all related equipment to business.
- Performs needed repairs and complete approved work, ensuring that clearances, fittings, adjustments, settings, replacements and repairs are correct and precise in accordance with existing technical manuals, specifications or instructions.
- Determines causes of mechanical operation problems, traces and locates defects, and makes repairs on small engines and related equipment.
- Repairs, overhauls and rebuilds engines and does other major repairs of systems such as diesel, gasoline and other types of internal combustion engines, hydraulic utility system and controls.
- Makes changes or modifications in accordance with specifications and guidelines.
- Perform necessary checklist and testing items to assure proper operations to assure proper performance of equipment repaired.
- Must possess and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
- Class A or B CDL strongly preferred.
- Must possess strong mechanical skills and excellent work habits.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
- Ability to maintain emotional control in stressful situations.
- Have own hand tools.
Equipment Used:
Small hand tools, drills, drill press, grinder, air-powered tools, torch, jack, lift equipment, diagnostic, repair equipment, personal computer, fax machine, phone, copier.
Physical Demands:
Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching. Routinely lift and carry parts and equipment 15-75 pounds; possess manual dexterity to complete projects in tradesman fashion.
Authority Statement:
The Shop Mechanic derives authority from the Shop Foreman and is grated full authority to perform the duties set forth in the job description.
