Position Summary: The Senior Financial Analyst position will be responsible for supporting the Financial Planning and Analysis function at Mercury including financial modeling design, development and management, data sourcing and management, driver-based forecasting, business case development, decision support and financial analysis. The position will report to the Vice President – Finance.


Location: Topeka, Kansas or Kansas City Metropolitan Area
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive Pay

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop financial models, budgets and forecast tools to lead and support business decisions
  • Partner with Operating leads to develop and refine key assumptions
  • Update financial models after each period close and manage business forecast
  • Provide financial guidance and support to operational units
  • Financial business case development
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Financial support of the forecasting and budgeting process
  • Automate data collection and evaluation capabilities
  • Results trend and driver-based variance analysis and evaluation
  • Data sourcing and management


Skills and Requirements:

  • Strategic thinking and financial modeling skills
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Office capabilities
  • Excellent analytical, computational, and mathematical abilities
  • Proficiency in data extraction and management
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level of integrity
  • Understanding of Accounting Principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or related field (master’s degree or higher preferred)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and relevant accounting software and platforms
