About the Role
The Product Engineer is responsible for configuring make-to-order products based on customer requirements, sourcing raw materials, creating the documentation required for manufacturing and inspection, and overseeing the execution of customer orders. This is a key role at the intersection of several company departments. Therefore, the Product Engineer will work closely with the Sales Engineer, Development and Process Engineers, and Production and Quality personnel to ensure that products meet customer’s needs and goals.
What You Get to Do
- Analyze customer sales orders for materials and manufacturing requirements
- Generate document packages for production, including Bill of Materials, process sheets, product drawings, and inspection protocols
- Guide document packages through the approval process
- Work with Production Control to initiate production, and clarify questions as they arise during manufacturing and quality inspections
- Provide technical support to customers and other team members as needed
- Proactively identify potential manufacturing issues, and communicate with customers, Sales, Engineering, and Production teams to address them
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
About You
- 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Technician or Engineer in a manufacturing environment with an Associate Degree in an Engineering Discipline, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or similar
- Full proficiency with AutoCAD
- Experience with ERP/MRP or database software
- Excellent Microsoft Office application skills
- Good analytical and design skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize, good judgment for decision making
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members
