Overview

As part of the Technology Services team at Free Market Health, the Cloud Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing our public cloud services and containerized environment. They will be expected to take ownership of our cloud architecture and curate a scalable, reliable, and efficient approach to managing uptime and performance across our technology stack.

 

As part of a growing team in a fast-paced environment, we are looking for a Cloud Engineer that will bring expertise to the day-to-day management of our Microsoft Azure footprint. In addition, the Cloud Engineer will have oversight and management responsibilities associated with several PaaS and SaaS-based tools that support the FMH platform architecture and its functionality. This person should have experience managing and maintaining a full cloud-based architecture, including networking, database provisioning and management, Kubernetes management, firewall infrastructure management, log management and analysis, and various monitoring solutions. The optimal candidate will understand the technology stack and focus on designing and implementing solutions that increase the stability, security, and effectiveness of our cloud architecture. This person will take ownership of our approach to site reliability and will be responsible for delivering solutions that help our internal and external stakeholders maintain confidence in our scalability as the business grows.

 

Specifics

The specific responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Owning and administering Free Market Health's cloud infrastructure footprint in partnership with our Cloud Security Engineering team.
  • Providing SME-level guidance and direction around Free Market Health’s Kubernetes environment.
  • Designing and testing new cloud-based architectures and process flows to enhance our existing services and software delivery model.
  • Delivering innovative infrastructure solutions that support a rapidly scaling business.
  • Managing and updating infrastructure as code (IaC) automated deployment repositories.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and updating Kubernetes environments to ensure compliance and stability.
  • Implementing and managing automated processes and procedures to enhance telemetry analysis and monitoring / alerting.

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience deploying and maintaining cloud infrastructure services including but not limited to virtual networks, virtual machines, network security groups, blob storage, Kubernetes services, SQL databases, data lake store.
  • Experience working directly with Kubernetes deployments and maintaining efficient and stable container operations
  • Deep experience managing public cloud environments in Azure or AWS
  • Familiarity with common tooling and concepts such as Docker, Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure Dev Ops, Artifactory, Helm, IDaaS, Blue-Green Deployment, Canary Deployment
  • An understanding of the importance of data integrity in the cloud and the ability to implement solutions that enhance our security posture
  • Experience enhancing site reliability across a modern cloud-based technology stack
