Multicultural AIDS Coalition, Inc.: What drives usThe Multicultural AIDS Coalition mission is to mobilize communities of color to end the HIV epidemic. MAC supports broader efforts to eradicate conditions that fuel the epidemic, including substance abuse, sexually transmitted infections, lack of healthcare access, homelessness, incarceration, and discrimination based on race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity.
What would you do as a Black Immigrant Health System NavigatorAs a Black Immigrant Health System Navigator, you will be responsible for providing culturally competent health navigation services to Black immigrants in the community. Your day-to-day tasks will include conducting outreach and engaging with clients to assess their needs, connecting them with appropriate healthcare resources, and advocating on their behalf to ensure they receive quality care. You will also be expected to maintain accurate records of client interactions and outcomes to track progress and improve services. Your role will be crucial in bridging the gap between healthcare systems and Black immigrants, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for this underserved population.
What you need to be successfulTo excel as a Black Immigrant Health System Navigator, you must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients from diverse backgrounds. Cultural competency and sensitivity are essential to understand and address the unique healthcare needs of Black immigrants. Additionally, organizational skills and attention to detail will help you manage client information and track outcomes efficiently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic health records systems is preferred to maintain accurate records and documentation. Familiarity with community resources and healthcare services will also be beneficial in connecting clients with the appropriate support they need.
Your ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team will be key to your success in this role.
