Company Description:
Growing Orthopaedic Practice founded in 2010 and headquartered in Garden City, Long Island. This billing section handles billing for multiple physicians including Orthopaedic Surgery, MRI, Physical Therapy and Physician Assistants. Heavy No-Fault and Worker’s Compensation patient population.
Role: Biller
Location: Garden City (In person only)
Pay: $24 - $30/Hour (Pay is commensurate with experience)

Job Description
This role would focus on No Fault and Workers Compensation Billing. It is responsible for preparing and entering charges for specific providers, ensuring the accuracy of outpatient billing and assisting with account reviews/account receivable/appeals follow up.
This role will be responsible for reviewing medical record documentation prior to claims submission to ensure appropriate assignment and sequencing of the correct diagnostic and procedure codes for services and treatments documented in the medical record.
Job Responsibilities
- Bill services documented in the patient medical charts with appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes. Ensure timely and accurate release of all outpatient charges.
- Request medical records as needed to clarify missing or inadequate medical record information required to complete the coding assessment and adhere to documentation and billing requirements.
- Make corrections as needed to ensure accurate coding and billing and reimbursement processing.
- Assist in finding resolutions to billing issues – rejections, non-paid accounts, etc
- Maintain a working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding principles, governmental regulations, protocols and third party requirements regarding billing and documentation.
- Remain current on all changes in legislative regulations that impact coding
Required Education & Experience
- High School diploma/GED
- Minimum 1 year experience with No Fault and Workers Compensation Billing in NY
- Intermediate proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office)
Preferred
- Advanced knowledge of specialty coding (Orthopedics) and bundling edits
- Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, third party procedures, and requirements regarding benefit structures, insurance verification, referrals, and authorizations
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to gather, analyze and make recommendations/decisions based on documentation and data
- Ability to convey complex or technical information in an easy to understand manner
