Schedule Notes: Weekends required as needed. No holiday or on-call requirement.
Job Summary:
The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This role involves producing diagnostic images, performing portable x-ray exams, and assisting physicians in administering radiopaque contrast media.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting appropriate technical factors based on individual patient needs.
- Restrict the radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to prevent exposure to unaffected parts of the patient.
- Perform portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
- Follow operational procedures to identify patient films with the correct name and x-ray number, and mark the film accurately.
- Develop exposed x-ray films using available processing methods.
- Complete patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film.
- Maintain an orderly x-ray room as directed by the head of the department.
- Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients.
- Perform administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film filing, maintenance of records, reception of patients, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Provide assistance to patients in moving, turning, and getting on and off x-ray tables based on individual patient needs and abilities.
- Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs, including age, culture, language, and impairments.
- Communicate with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level of understanding.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Skills and Qualifications:
Preferred: Operating Room (OR) experience.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.
Certifications & Licensure:
Required:
- New Jersey State License.
- Ability to meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination.
Languages: Proficiency in English (Speak, Read, Write)
Additional Information: Must possess New Jersey State License
