A technology company in Longwood, Florida, has created an exciting new position.   This position supports a nationwide company with 45 + branch offices and multiple client sites.

SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of a product owner is to maximize the value of a product or service by understanding and prioritizing the needs of the customer, as well as the goals of the business. This involves defining and communicating a clear vision and strategy for the product, creating and maintaining a product backlog that reflects customer and stakeholder priorities, and working closely with the development team to ensure that the product is developed and delivered according to those priorities. The Product Owner is expected to embrace the honor to serve our communities, as well as demonstrate kindness, professionalism, and timely resolution in every interaction. They will also abide by the Sentry Promises made to our board members, homeowners, and fellow employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and maintaining a detailed product backlog, prioritizing features and user stories based on customer feedback, market research, and internal stakeholders' input.
  • Clearly articulating and communicating product requirements to the development team, ensuring a shared understanding of the desired outcome.
  • Regularly reviewing and refining the product backlog, considering changing market conditions, customer feedback, and new opportunities.
  • Actively participating in Agile ceremonies, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, to maintain a strong relationship with the development team and ensure product development stays on track.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and customers, addressing questions and concerns regarding the product and its development.
  • Role in Agile Framework: The Product Owner is defined explicitly within the Agile development framework, particularly Scrum. Their primary responsibility is to represent the voice of the customer and ensure the development team delivers value to the end-users.
  • Focus on a specific product or feature within a more extensive product portfolio. They work closely with the development team and are responsible for defining, prioritizing, and managing the product backlog.
  • Responsible for prioritizing user stories and features in the product backlog based on customer feedback, stakeholder input, and business objectives. In addition, they must ensure that the development team works on the most valuable items at any given time.
  • Work closely with the development team, participating in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. In addition, they are responsible for providing clear and concise requirements and ensuring the team has a shared understanding of the desired outcome.
  • Product Owners have the authority to make decisions regarding the product's features and priorities. They act as the primary point of contact for the development team and stakeholders concerning product-related decisions.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Solid understanding of Agile development methodologies, particularly Scrum, and experience working in Agile teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Customer-centric mindset, focusing on delivering products that address real-world needs and provide value to users.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, required
  • 2 years minimum experience in Software Development, Information Technology, or computer science
  • Licensed to operate a motor vehicle with clean driving record and appropriate vehicle insurance coverage
  • Some travel is required
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
