We have an extremely exciting and immediate opportunity to hire a Senior Certified Flavorist In this role you will manage large and/or complex flavor development projects and research initiatives, as well as provide project direction to R&D, Technology, Sales, Category Management, etc. as necessary. As a technical expert, formulate new flavor creations or modify existing flavors to meet customer requirements, internal testing needs or new technology development. The Senior Flavor Chemist will effectively drive functional business growth in support of company goals and objectives. Develop, train, motivate and manage personnel as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create flavors that meet the regulatory, cost, and performance guidelines outlined in R&D projects. Modify existing flavors and/or create new flavors to meet customer project requirements.
  • Works with internal teams to manage, communicate and deliver upon agreed timelines. Notify management and sales representative of any expected delays, issues, etc., in a timely manner. Follows all procedures for documentation of flavor specifications and project completion.
  • Ensure that all flavors created are sound, technically accurate and easily manufacture-able. Enter all formulas along with all related technical information and manufacturing instructions into the appropriate data base(s). Assures proper flavor labeling and Regulatory status of new and existing formulas.
  • Retain samples of all newly created flavors, keys, and other modifications. Monitors these over time and evaluate for any technical problems or shelf life considerations. Notify supervisors or any significant stake holders and takes appropriate actions if any stability or processing issues are observed.
  • Provide technical flavor expertise and customer support (internal and external) for assigned market/project segments. Make technical presentations to customers and salesforce as needed.
  • Assist in the general up-keep, maintenance, and stocking of the Flavor Laboratory, e.g., lab cleanliness, raw material and flavor sample archival and inventory management.
  • Transfer technology and detailed flavor processing instructions to the necessary parties.
  • Manage Flavorists and Technicians daily work efforts (If required)
  • Supports internal teams with issues or challenges as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Science or related discipline
  • 12+ years of experience creating winning flavors. Market success is required.
  • Proven successful financial performance as a Flavor Chemist
  • Certified membership into the Society of Flavor Chemists
