Salary: $80,000 Annually

Founded in 1628, The Collegiate Church is the oldest continually worshipping Protestant church in the country and is deeply embedded in the history of our city. We are seeking a full-time Director of Curriculum & Lifelong Learning (DCLL) to lead us in becoming better, more faithful, more understanding disciples of the way Jesus leads. Reporting to the Senior Minister, the DCLL will work closely with the Program Director to deliver strategy and implementation of educational offerings for all ages. The DCLL will develop a year-round curriculum with offerings that appeal to congregants and community members of varying ages, interests, and backgrounds. At West End, we believe learning is a lifelong adventure and seek programing that engages everyone from our littlest ones in Sunday School to our seniors charting their next chapter and looking for new resources.
The Director of Curriculum & Lifelong Learning is a new position designed for a growing church. This position is entrepreneurial, creative, and full of possibility. We are excited to welcome a high-level thinker, educational expert, and strategic partner to our team.
KEY DUTIES
• Working with the Senior Minister and Director of Programming, deliver a year-round strategy and calendar of educational and programmatic offerings;
• Identify additional staffing and faculty needs; recruit additional teachers and special guest facilitators; oversee all administrative responsibilities for faculty;
• Manage the Curriculum and Learning department budget;
• Be a public face of West End Church to our congregation and community members; this includes presence on ~2 Sundays per month and other program dates as designed;
• Work with the Interim Music Director to support music education and community enrichment initiatives;
• Work with the Senior Minister and Board in the design, strategy, and recruitment process of a new permanent musician and/or musical faculty;
• Work with our marketing and communications team to attract new audiences to programs;
• Examples of programming that are currently front of mind include: an “ageing well” seminar to support seniors in advanced life planning and transitions; ongoing Sunday morning Adult Education classes; instruction on our roots with the RCA, our move toward the UCC, and linking our members with their siblings in the denomination; creative and artistic initiatives that appeal to our broader community; partnership and celebration initiatives to mark our 400th Anniversary in 2028.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS
• An appreciation of faith and the role faith based organizations place in our civic society, neighborhood, and broader community;
• Classroom teaching experience in either—preferably both—school and other (ie., cultural, institutional, faith based, or corporate) settings;
• Exceptional administrative skills including calendar and budgetary development and management;
• A masters degree in Education, Change Management, Non-profit Administration, or related fields;
• A self-starter with a nimble mindset, and an entrepreneurial spirit that includes a healthy sense of humor for all the ways we plan and all the ways God laughs;
• A collaborative approach that balances brainstorming with others, responsibilities to the overall function of the church, and independent work.
