Assistant Director of Nursing Care Inpatient Units
The Assistant Director, Nursing Inpatient Unit(s) has 24-hour Unit responsibility for optimizing daily operations to provide excellent nursing care. This is done through two primary pathways. First, developing staff capability and confidence in providing collaborative, effective, evidence-based, tailored nursing care. Second, creating and maintaining structures and processes to support effective, efficient and cost-effective care. The Assistant Director, Nursing Inpatient Unit(s)- supports nursing staff in protecting their patients from errors, injuries, accidents, and infection
- promotes the translation of research-based evidence into practice, making care safer, of higher quality, and more accessible, equitable, and affordable,
- provides and adjusts staffing, scheduling, equipment, materials and budget to meet patient and staff needs,
- increases multidisciplinary collaboration, and
- supports staff in their professional growth, especially as it increases critical thinking and decision-making skill
Making the professional role of nursing staff evident in interactions with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team. The Assistant Director, Nursing Inpatient Unit(s) is growing in providing transformational leadership, creating change in individual staff as well as the hospital by leading people to where they need to be to thrive in the future, not just seeking solutions to current problems. - Currently a RN Supervisor
- Have 2-5 years of recent experience
- Good Medical Background
Bachelors degree in nursing
Masters in nursing or active participation towards completion of Masters program
Specialized KnowledgeExperience with inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse disorder patient populations
Experience in management of psychiatric and/or substance abuse inpatient unit
Professional CertificationLicensure as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut
Certification in Substance abuse disorders or Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
Certification or active progress towards certification in one of the following:
- ANCC Nurse Executive Certification (NE-BC)
- AONL Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML)
- American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL)
At least 5 years experience as a psychiatric nurse
At least 2 years experience in supervision or management preferred
Experience with adolescents preferred
Working ConditionsMonday-Friday
Adjusts hours when needs necessitate
