Utah Community Action is accepting applications for a full time Mental Health Liaison.

The Mental Health Liaison is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of program functions in assigned areas to ensure effective delivery of mental health services to children and families enrolled in both Head Start end Early Head Start.

This Mental Health Liaison position earns a competitive wage of $23.99/hour. We also offer generous benefits including health, dental, vision, a flexible spending account (FSA), a healthcare spending account (HSA) with up to a $2,500 match, a 401k plan with 5% match, short and long-term disability, accident insurance, life insurance, 11 paid holidays, paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, guilt-free paid time off-PTO(up to 24 days in the first year), and an hour of paid time on Fridays for self-care/mental health. This position is located in Millcreek.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree or advanced degree in mental health field such as social work, school counseling, mental health counseling, or related field required.
  • 2 years of previous experience working with children and/or families is required.
  • Previous Head Start experience preferred.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

  • Develop collaborative relationships with mental health professionals and agencies.
  • Develop and train staff and families on a variety of mental health and parenting topics.
  • Collaborate with Head Start and Early Head Start staff to develop and implement Mental Health interventions in the classroom to support children and families.
  • Collaborate with teaching teams and families to ensure that appropriate referrals to mental health agencies are provided, as needed.
  • Regularly conduct classroom visits to model for and support the classroom teams in implementing interventions.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate openly with all departments to ensure that all program operations support the delivery of high-quality services to families and children in Head Start/ Early Head Start.
  • Partner with parents to gather information regarding their child's mental and social emotional health and provide support and referrals as needed.
  • Collaborate with teaching teams to follow up and monitor social emotional screeners.
  • Collaborate with the Health Care team and Family Advocate to support mothers enrolled in the prenatal program and administer postnatal screenings to monitor mental health needs.
