Our client, a nonprofit organization combating poverty, providing healthcare, building communities and advancing social justice through innovative programs and initiatives.
Position Overview: We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts, with a primary focus on developing and executing strategies for direct appeals. The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional with a proven track record in fundraising, donor cultivation, and strategic planning within the non-profit sector.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual revenue targets, with a particular emphasis on direct appeals.
  2. Plan and execute targeted direct appeal campaigns across various channels, including direct mail, email, social media, and digital platforms.
  3. Create compelling fundraising appeals and solicitation materials that effectively communicate the organization's mission, impact, and funding needs.
  4. Identify and cultivate relationships with individual donors, major donors, foundations, and corporate partners to secure financial support for organizational programs and initiatives.
  5. Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals and priorities.
  6. Lead the development and management of donor stewardship programs to ensure donor retention and engagement.
  7. Utilize data and analytics to evaluate fundraising performance, track donor engagement, and inform strategic decision-making.
  8. Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in fundraising, philanthropy, and donor relations, and incorporate innovative approaches into fundraising strategies.
  9. Supervise and mentor development staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities as needed.
  10. Represent the organization at fundraising events, donor meetings, and community gatherings to promote awareness and support for our mission.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in non-profit management, fundraising, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in non-profit fundraising, with a focus on direct appeals and individual giving.
  • Proven track record of successfully planning, executing, and evaluating fundraising campaigns, with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling fundraising appeals and presentations.
  • Experience cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors, major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software, donor databases, and CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing and motivating a team of development professionals.
  • Passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to advancing social impact through philanthropy.
