Our internship offers students the opportunity to learn from hands-on experience with real world applications. You'll be participating in important processes while developing your understanding of your profession.
We have various internships throughout our Engineering Department to include:
Design Engineering:
- Develop assembly or component designs for use in ILC products
- Develop these designs with consideration of quality, cost, function, system integration and producibility
- Develop concepts, prototype components or assemblies, test the products, document the designs, and support production during manufacture
Quality Engineering:
- Evaluate and analyze products, components, materials, and equipment for the purpose of understanding and predicting failures
- Review product designs, material specifications, and manufacturing capability to predict reliability and dependability
- Create prototypes and conduct product tests to gather reliability data
Materials Engineering:
- Research, design, and develop materials for use in consumer and commercial goods, equipment, packaging, and other applications
- Conduct research to determine the best materials to use, taking into account environments, climate, product use, loads, and other physical stresses placed on materials
- Perform experiments on materials and research or create new materials
- Create technical drawings and specifications for use in production
Manufacturing Engineering:
- Research, design, and develop the organization's manufacturing and fabrication methods, tools, and systems
- Evaluate product design for manufacturability and suggest design process adjustments and quality improvements
- Engage in the selection, development, and testing of tools, fixtures, machinery, and equipment used in manufacturing
- Investigate manufacturing processes for cost reduction opportunities
- Analyze workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout in order to maximize efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering, process, and/or production teams to meet quality, productivity, and cost objectives
Qualifications and requirements:
- Must be able to work on shared database with Government programs (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.)
- Preferred rising Junior or Senior and have a 3.0 GPA in your core field of study
- Able to work 40+ hours each week during your internship
