Birch Hill Recruiting is seeking a highly skilled CNC Lathe Set-up Technician on behalf of our client, a reputable family-owned, ISO-rated contract machine shop in Lake Zurich, IL. This position is ideal for a dedicated professional who prioritizes safety and thrives in a quality-driven production environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Set up and operate CNC machinery.
  • Follow job routers, machine rates, and procedures.
  • Utilize programs, manuals, prints, and work orders.
  • Inspect parts for quality assurance.
  • Perform maintenance and keep the work area clean.
  • Collaborate with team members.
  • Write, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
  • Coordinate machining tasks with engineering and operators.
  • Optimize equipment capacity and monitor operations.
  • Verify finished workpieces meet tolerances.
  • Perform equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain and clean measuring tools.
  • Adhere to quality, safety, and procedural standards.
  • Assist with additional tasks as directed.


Qualifications:


  • 3-5 years of CNC programming and operation experience
  • Knowledge of Okuma and Fanuc CNC controls
  • Basic machine skills (lathes, grinders, mills)
  • Ability to read blueprints, micrometers, gauges, and comparators
  • Team player with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and quality-focused
  • Fluent in English; willing to work overtime as needed
  • CAD/CAM knowledge is helpful but not required
