A Day in the Life of a Marketing and Communications Manager

The Marketing and Communications Manager will serve as the department's tech-savvy leader, possessing exceptional writing and editing skills. The primary responsibilities include oversight of publications, website management, brand messaging and awareness, and project management. This position requires a strong passion for the organization's mission and a desire to leverage our stories as a unique proposition for donors and the community.

What You'll Do

  • Manage day-to-day execution of marketing, communications, and public relations efforts.
  • Oversee the work of and coach, mentor, and manage the Marketing & Design Specialist.
  • Collaborate with the Executive and PR team to set communications strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns through data and KPIs to identify trends and opportunities to improve.
  • Actively engage donors through various communications and messaging, continuously identifying new opportunities for engagement.
  • Serve as the organization's brand manager, ensuring all marketing materials and internal and external communications are consistently on brand.
  • Design and maintain our organizational website content and platform.
  • Manage overall production and editing of the bi-annual House magazine and monthly e-newsletters as well as other House publications used for the purpose of telling the House story.
  • Understand Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana's mission, values, and goals to develop and deliver campaigns and experiences to reach the target market.
  • This role is primarily on-site in our downtown House (on the IUPUI Campus) on weekdays during normal business hours (8-5 PM). Weekends and evenings will be required in preparation for special events.

What You'll Bring

  • 3-5 years experience knowledge in marketing, copywriting, and/or public relations and the best practices and procedures within the non-profit industry preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing and communications is preferred. Equivalent work experience in marketing, communications, sales/business development, public relations, and/or non-profit management combined with nonprofit experience is acceptable.
  • 1-2 years experience as a supervisor or direct management of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities to communicate across diverse audiences, and deep commitment to internal and external service.
  • Technical proficiency with Adobe Suite/In-Design.
  • Experience with e-newsletters and distribution platforms like Constant Contact.
