Purpose of Position:

The Sr Operations Manager is responsible for all Dallas operations business units. Fresh Cut, Protein, Repack, Shipping, Receiving, Ripening. This includes safety, Food Safety, product quality, customer service, inventory management, material planning, cost control, cost reduction and vendor relations. This position is responsible for delivering P&L results that meet or exceed the budget. Work with facility teams to oversee all aspects of operational performance that meets the quality, food safety standards, regulatory policies, customer service and cost requirements of Del Monte Fresh Produce. This position is the 2nd in command to the General Manger. The Sr Operations Manager is responsible to determine pricing of new items, set up of new items and monitors COGS vs selling prices for all items and works with Sales to establish profitable margins. Ensure effective use of resources and communication of priorities by coordinating efforts between Procurement, Manufacturing, Sales, and Product Supply departments.

Accountabilities:

  • Oversees day-to-day scheduling of production and assures resources (raw materials, labor, equipment) are planned to meet daily demand at expected efficiencies.
  • Works closely with Maintenance Manager to direct priorities to effectively maintain the facility and equipment.
  • Creates short- & long-term plans for Capital investment in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and General Manager.
  • Assures Quality Standards are met and reinforced regularly.
  • Develops and supports their staff to grow and thrive as strong leaders.
  • Establish and report KPI's for areas of responsibility on quality, food safety, customer service and financial reporting.
  • Conduct regular Operational Improvement reviews with Staffing Agency to improve production efficiency and reduce production cost.
  • Analyze manufacturing best practices DMFP facilities and look to implement these practices.
  • Serve as the primary leader for obtaining Operational savings ensure savings are tracking according to expectations.
  • Provide focus and coordination to resolving and communicating immediate business issues (i.e., recalls, product going on hold or other significant unusual occurrences).
  • Manages inventory discrepancies, Food Bank orders and claims for excess losses or supplier issues to control costs and ensure quick resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Liaison with Finance, Quality and Sales functions to align with Company manufacturing strategy to maximize Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement and Logistic departments.
  • Work with the Procurement functions to develop cost effective sourcing strategies that ensure fresh quality raw product supply to the contract manufacturer.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or Food Science required
  • 5+ years of increasing plant operations leadership experience – production manager / superintendent level equivalent or above preferred
  • Must understand MRP systems – SAP Experience/Expertise a plus
  • A team player; able to use effective communication, analytical and management skills to lead a diverse group forward.
