Job Title: Reconciliation Accountant

Reporting to: Director, Bank Portfolio Accounting

BM Technologies, Inc. (“BMTX” or the “Company”) is seeking a fully remote Reconciliation Accountant to be a member of the Bank Portfolio Reconciliation Team. You will perform a variety of reconciliations on bank activity to include but not limited to payment activity such as wires, ACH, and Debit Card. You will pull data and reports from various sources provided by the company’s core processing vendor, and external sources including the Federal Reserve.

You will partner with stakeholders across the Company in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to focus on the accuracy and timeliness in completing all required reconciliations as part of the daily and monthly deliverables for our portfolio customers and Partner Banks.

To be successful in this role you should possess the following abilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Prepare Income Statements and Balance Sheets.
  • Create entries to the General Ledger
  • Create queries and reports from the general ledger and other data sources
  • Summarize and report work progress to superiors
  • Work closely with Finance and Bank Operations teams to understand the client’s portfolio and fund structure as well as to ensure all required deliverables are complete. To do this, you will perform various types of reconciliations to ensure that data is accurate and client service expectations are met.
  • You will participate in the documentation of processes and procedures relating to all applicable functions/processes within scope.
  • You will communicate with the team during the production of the daily deliverables to ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • You will participate in the production of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end deliverables to ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • You will communicate with appropriate internal teams or client teams to resolve open issues and questions, reaching out to internal technology support and vendor support when necessary to resolve any production issues or system support queries.
  • Review reconciling items/exceptions with Finance, clients, and various operational areas.
  • Assist in developing reconciliations for new products or new Partner Bank relationships
  • Report findings/discrepancies to applicable areas in accordance with timelines defined in Reconciliation policy and procedures
  • Create, maintain, and report all monthly reconciliations in accordance with Reconciliation Policy (SOX)
  • Identify settlement discrepancies and out of balance conditions through a variety of balancing techniques and reconciliation software applications
  • Alert appropriate management levels, internal departments, and external third parties to all problems and out of balance conditions identified

Required Experience/ Qualifications:

  • BA / BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Finance/Accounting industry. Knowledge of banking operations preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel. (Annotations, concatenations, v-look up, formulas, macros)
  • Experience with bank transactions including ACH, Wires, checks, debit cards and interchange
  • Strong customer service skills as you will be communicating daily with your clients and other service providers.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise on a range of reconciliations
  • Ability to analyze issues quickly and independently and take appropriate action under tight time constraints.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting regulations.
  • Proficient in accounting software, knowledge of PeopleSoft and NetSuite is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
