For 30 years, One Family Illinois (formerly SOS Children's Villages Illinois) has provided the highest quality of care for Illinois’ most vulnerable children and families. We are the first self-funded SOS organization in the United States. Since our beginning, we have carried on the successful track record of SOS-Kinderdorf International in transforming children with a broken childhood into caring, productive, self-reliant adults. In addition, we have pioneered a number of successful programs such as providing SOS Children continued support as they enter young adulthood, and empowering parents to pursue successful reunification of their families.

The Opportunity: The Advancement Team Intern works with the Chief Advancement Officer and other members of the fundraising team on planning individual giving campaigns, assisting with individual donor-facing communications, supporting donor events, and supporting overall department operations to ensure effective use of data in driving individual giving strategy.

Qualifications:

  1. Commitment to One Family Illinois philosophy and mission.
  2. Some college experience towards a degree in a related field and/or experience working in a non-profit fundraising office preferred in administrative and database management, or equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  3. Experience in Raiser's Edge preferred.
  4. Willingness and ability to travel and to work nights and weekends, as required.
  5. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and handle sensitive and confidential materials with integrity.
  6. Sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and staff.
  7. Ability to relate to the Agency staff and to the public in a courteous and professional manner.
  8. Ability to work in an alcohol, tobacco, drug, and firearm-free environment.
  9. Ability to provide required DCFS Medical Report/TB test.
