Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement software configuration management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain version control systems, including branching, merging, and labeling.
  • Oversee the build and release processes, ensuring that software builds are reliable and reproducible.
  • Coordinate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth software deployment and integration.
  • Monitor and audit software configurations to ensure compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Maintain and improve automated build and deployment pipelines.
  • Track and report on configuration management metrics and KPIs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve configuration-related issues.
  • Provide training and support to team members on SCM tools and best practices.
  • Ensure proper documentation of configuration management activities and software artifacts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Subversion, Perforce).
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification in Configuration Management (e.g., CMII, ITIL) preferred.

Experience

  • 8+ years of proven experience as a Software Configuration Manager or in a similar role.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell) preferred.
