Web Content Manager

Knox College seeks a knowledgeable, creative, and strategic web content manager, who will serve as the College’s expert on compelling content for the College’s primary website, www.knox.edu. The web content manager will use their skills to promote brand awareness and encourage engagement through strong organic digital strategy and content development. Working with partners within the Offices of Communications and Information Technology, as well as subject matter experts across the College, the web content manager will strive to ensure that the College’s website is relevant and useful to primary audience(s); aligns with the College’s brand and strategic goals; is current, clear, and consistent; and compellingly tells the story of this historic College. The web content manager will be an excellent communicator, strategic thinker, versatile project manager, and enthusiastic member of the Knox community. A remote or hybrid working option may be considered, based upon candidate needs and location.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the main content contact and creator for the College’s website, partnering with teammates and stakeholders to identify, create and publish targeted web content.
Help build web content strategy that maps to the College’s mission, brand platform, strategic goals, and implement that strategy via concrete, measurable tactics.
Build strong relationships with internal and external subject matter experts.
Manage and implement the web content calendar and steward the web content lifecycle, including creating and publishing new content, editing existing content, and removing expired content.
Identify improvements for website usability and functionality.
Propose and oversee initiatives to grow organic web traffic and optimize web content for paid and organic search engine rankings (e.g. SEO).
Regularly monitor web content performance and provide monthly analytics reports, along with data-based recommendations for adjustment.
Assist with coordination between the website and other digital channels, including social media and digital ads.
Monitor online competitor presence/perceptions, new digital trends and platforms, etc. to identify new opportunities and ensure best practices.
Oversee student workers to assist with web content creation and maintenance.
Assure that public-facing web and digital content meets regulatory standards (ADA, FERPA, copyright, privacy, etc.)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
Minimum 3-5 years related professional experience in marketing and communications; preference for individuals with experience in web/digital strategy, content development and analysis, and user experience (UX) in an environment.
Demonstrated understanding and experience of digital communications, organic content marketing and strategy, search engine optimization, and web analytics reporting.
Comfort with technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, web content management systems (e.g. Ingeniux) and associated software.
Experience using data to inform decisions.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills, including attention to detail, marketing-focused writing skills, and the ability to articulate the value of a liberal arts education.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
