Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Job Purpose

The Purchasing Manager sits on the Cincinnati Leadership Team and is the strategic leader of the purchasing and logistics teams for the Cincinnati production facility. The Purchasing Manager works across the company to develop processes that support the growth of the business, improve supply chain landed costs, and ensure on-time fulfillment of components for production.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds, develops, and empowers the purchasing and logistics team through servant leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Leads a team of 8 people who cover the buying, receiving, shipping, freight, and logistics.
  • Creates goals, objective plans, and development plans for the purchasing and logistics teams to ensure personal, professional, and company growth.
  • Sets a vision of the future within the department, communicates that vision to the team, and sets milestone goals to achieve that vision.
  • Leads vendor relationships, vendor selection, and pricing for materials, expense items, and freight.
  • Leads the logistics team responsible for setting up scheduling outbound freight.
  • Leads the receiving team and shipping team who coordinate the flow of materials to and from the warehouse.
  • Owns the ERP processes and data for purchasing including stocking levels, safety stock, internal kanban levels, order quantities, and purchase orders.
  • Creates Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Metrics that measure performance and sets realistic goals that drive continuous improvement.
  • Champions safety initiatives and is constantly looking for ways to make the workplace safer to work in
  • Collaborates with sister factories to share best practices and cost savings projects within purchasing and logistics.
  • Responsible for raw material inventory levels and forecasts inventory dollars monthly.
  • Works on any additional tasks or special projects as required.
