Duties:
- Supports the billing specialists under the Patient Access Manager.
- Completes HEDIS and RAC audits.
- Coordinates MIPS reporting with clinical team.
- Works on revenue and charge capture.
- Manages Appeals
- Serves as support to assure patients billing is without error.
- Audits claims daily for errors, potential lost revenue, and issues that could predict billing delays.
- Communicates billing errors that require corrective measures with appropriate staff and supervisors.
- Liaison between billing systems/software and Beacon team for billing delays and AR queries that need corrective actions.
- Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
- Assesses accounts for completeness and accuracy.
- Uses online web portals efficiently to obtain claim details
- Resolves inbox tasks within the week.
- Reviews and work AR bucket on a weekly basis.
- Final review of all accounts in preparation of sending a patient to collection.
- Works on special projects assigned by CFO and Patient Access Manager.
- Works with patient access manager to create better processes for billing submissions.
- Demonstrates responsibility for ongoing personal development, professional growth, and continuing education.
- Performs duties in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision or direction.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Compassionate and caring bedside manner.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Significant Coding and Billing experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Medical Billing.
- Certified Coding Specialist or Certified Outpatient Coder required.
- Medical office experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
