Water Treatment Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for oversite of water treatment systems and assigned personnel, including day to day operations, process development, and compliance with quality/regulatory requirements. Includes oversight of projects, internal coordination between departments, and external coordination with design firms, regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the oversite of water treatment operations and assigned personnel, insuring reliability of processes and regulatory compliance.
- Responsible for oversite of daily environmental inspections and resulting actions related to stormwater discharge, noncontact cooling water discharge and hazardous waste storage.
- Assists technicians with hands on day to day operations as needed to maintain coverage and overall workflow.
- Coordinates and assists with afterhours and weekend system checks as required
- Responsible for integrity of required recordkeeping for ISO compliance, environmental inspections, and discharge data.
- Coordinates with HSE personnel and E&M personnel for corrective actions, environmental sampling, and maintenance of equipment and systems.
- Identifies and develops process improvements for water treatment processes and stormwater systems, coordinating design, procurement and installation as needed.
- Project management and capital planning as required.
- Responsible to ensure safe work practices, including the maintenance of a clean and safe workplace.
- Responsible to ensure all employees receive necessary quality, safety/environmental and maintenance training, and education.
- Administer subordinates' performance appraisals, develop goals and objectives, professional development, and compensation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
BS Degree in Engineering or BS in a technical field with related experience.
EXPERIENCE:
3+ years of related experience or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to analyze written information, such as procedures, against practice in order to propose change. Ability to write procedures and work instructions. Ability to present information and respond to questions from peers, supervisors and managers within the organization. Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, internal customers and in some cases external customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
