The Shop and Grounds Maintenance Technician is hired by, reports to and is evaluated by the Service Manager. The Shop and Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties to ensure that the exterior grounds and property, as well as inside the shop and store facilities are maintained in a safe and sanitary manner. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:


Shop and Grounds Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning activities, including but not limited to, dusting, mopping, sweeping and steam cleaning floors and interior spaces.
  • Ensures all garbage collection and removal as necessary.
  • Empties and disposes of all oil buckets as necessary.
  • Makes rounds around building grounds at regular intervals daily.
  • Provides grounds and yard upkeep, including but not limited to, collecting trash, sweeping sidewalks and driveways, and moving lawns.
  • Conducts maintenance tasks like replacing light bulbs.
  • Ensures all equipment is cleaned and pressure washed as necessary.
  • Observes appearance and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards or conditions requiring outside vendor services.
  • Promotes and supports a focus on safety by following all safety rules, regulations, and guidelines at all times.
  • Reports any issues or concerns regarding safety or cleanliness to the Service Manager and/or Shop Foreman.


Team Leadership

  • Develops and maintains open communication among employees, customers, vendors, partners, and suppliers.
  • Encourages and promotes a collaborative working relationship between the parts, sales, and service departments.


Customer Service

  • Works with the service and parts departments to exceed customer expectations.

  • Ability to get around the dealership and grounds for various tasks.
  • Ability to lift or move 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate up and down movement with bending or stooping, including reaching above and below shoulder height with arms and hands.
  • Ability to be on one’s feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb a ladder with the ability to carry an object while climbing.
  • Ability to operate equipment or other power equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds of force.
  • Ability to load/unload and utilize tools.

Education, Experience and Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Janitorial experience and/or grounds maintenance experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
