Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Housing Specialist 

JOB HIGHLIGHTS 

Qualifications:  

  • High School graduate or equivalent 
  • One (1) year of experience working or volunteering with persons with disabilities or in nursing or home health care positions.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Possess awareness of special needs and the ability to provide assistance according to the individual’s needs. 
  • Possess awareness of realistic work expectations regarding quality of work, and appropriate work behaviors. 
  • Communicate with supervisor in a timely manner. 
  • Responsible for collecting and reporting program data. 
  • Case management duties as assigned. 
  • Ability to perform assessments and intakes for individuals new to the program. 
  • Assist Individuals in exploring all housing options within the individual’s preferred location. 
  • Identify financial resources and determine the individual’s affordability. 
  • Responsible for assisting individuals with rental application completion, including obtaining necessary documents. 
  • Provide assistance with lease signings and move in coordination. 
  • Ability to travel throughout ODC’s service areas (Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wausau, etc.) 
  • Observe and document daily progress, concerns, and outcomes of each individual. 
  • Complete first aid, CPR and CPI training and certification if requested to. 
  • Responsible for scheduling allotted time for each individual supported. 
  • Responsible for acquiring and maintaining relationships with property owners, rental agencies, mortgage officers and housing authorities. 
  • This position requires use of a company email address which requires an application to be downloaded on your personal cell phone for multi-factor authentication (MFA) to ensure cyber security.
