CNC Programmer/Machinist

We are currently seeking a CNC Programmer who will be responsible for programming machines that will produce high-quality custom stone products for one of the premier countertop manufacturing facilities in the greater Chicago area and Northwest Indiana. Our client uses cutting edge technology and strict quality control to ensure expert and meticulous craftsmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize CNC programs for various machines including Saber waterjet saw, BACA duo table, and 2 CNC routers (Park Industries and Titan brand).
• Interpret and analyze CAD files to extract necessary information and convert it into machine-readable instructions.
• Collaborate with the pre-shop team to understand project requirements, material specifications, and machining tolerances.
• Determine the most efficient tool paths, cutting parameters, and machining strategies to achieve desired results.
• Create and modify CNC programs using appropriate programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code) and software.
• Perform thorough testing and debugging of CNC programs to ensure accuracy, functionality, and adherence to quality standards.
• Optimize machining processes by implementing continuous improvements and fine-tuning programming techniques.
• Collaborate with operators and technicians to provide clear instructions and guidance for machine setup and operation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve programming-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal machine performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices throughout the programming and machining processes.
• Maintain detailed documentation of CNC programs, tooling configurations, and machining parameters for future reference.
• Stay updated with advancements in CNC programming technologies, software, and machining techniques.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior CNC programmers or operators, if required.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, quality control) to optimize production processes and achieve project goals.
• Prioritize and manage multiple programming tasks effectively to meet project deadlines and production schedules.
• Work in a team environment to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget

Qualifications:

• Ideally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in CNC machining and programming
• Strong technical skills with experience using CAD/CAM software
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, and 3D models
• Strong knowledge of shop math, trigonometry, and geometry
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair CNC machines and programs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
• Experience working with natural stone materials is a plus
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished products
• Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment

Preferred Qualification:

• Note: Experience with Slabsmith Software, although not required, may be beneficial in a Slabsmith shop environment.

CAD and pre-shop will start at $18-$22/hr as our client is willing to train. With at least 2-3 years of experience, pay would be between $22-$26/hr.
