Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our neonatal healthcare team. As an NNP, you will provide advanced care to newborn infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and other neonatal settings. You will collaborate with neonatologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver specialized care, promote optimal outcomes, and support families during critical periods of newborn care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments of newborn infants in the NICU, including physical examinations, developmental assessments, and diagnostic tests.
  • Formulate and implement individualized care plans for premature and critically ill newborns, including management of acute and chronic conditions, respiratory support, and nutritional interventions.
  • Perform procedures such as intubation, central line placements, and umbilical catheterizations under supervision or as credentialed.
  • Monitor and interpret neonatal diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging studies to assess newborns' health status and response to treatment.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate multidisciplinary care and ensure continuity of care for neonatal patients.
  • Educate and support parents and caregivers on neonatal care, treatment plans, and developmental milestones, fostering family-centered care and shared decision-making.
  • Participate in neonatal resuscitation and emergency interventions as part of the NICU healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and clinical notes using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and continuing education activities to enhance clinical knowledge and practice.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.

Requirements:

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialty.
  • Current national certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) through the National Certification Corporation (NCC) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Current state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or eligibility for state licensure.
  • Proven experience as an NNP in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or similar neonatal setting preferred; new graduates with relevant clinical rotations may be considered.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with proficiency in neonatal assessment and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with neonatologists, healthcare team members, and families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development in neonatal care.
