HCW Qualifications:

· Degree/Education (5.2.4): Master’s degree in nursing. Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

· Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).

· Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience working as Nurse Practitioner is required. Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, disease process and procedures. Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required. Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care. Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records. As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions.

· Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): N/A

· Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner.

HCW Duties (5.1 Task 1):

· The healthcare provider will use their professional education, certification and experience listed in the basic Spiral 1-1, Clinical Acquisition Support Services contract, and the standard position description, to conduct administrative in-person and telephonic services at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. These services must comply with applicable Department of Defense and Air Force policy and guidance including DoDI 6200.06, Periodic Health Assessment (PHA) Program; AFI 48-170, Periodic Health Assessment (PHA); DAFI 48-122, Deployment Health; AFMAN 48-149, Aerospace Medicine, Flight, and Operational Medicine Program to include required standards of care, clinical practice guidelines, and workflows. It is estimated the healthcare provider will conduct 100% of MHA/PHA’s, DRHA’s 3, 4, and 5’s via virtual appointments. Healthcare providers will conduct 100% of Separation History & Physical Exam (SHPE), DRHA’s 1 and 2 in a computer based face-to-face encounter.

· Provide a full range of nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).

· Treat patients with common acute conditions, illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in collaboration with a physician.

· Collaborate with the physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses.

· Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

· Order diagnostic tests as applicable.

· Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

· Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.

· Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.

· Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.

· Assesses patients.

· Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.

· Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.

· Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.

· Completes orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with (IAW) unit guidelines.

· Participates in the orientation of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate.

· Serves and participates in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provides relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decision-making and process improvement. Participates in customer service initiatives, and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.

· Ensures a safe work environment, employee safe work habits and patient safety IAW regulatory agencies, infection control policies, and process improvement initiatives.

· Skill in setting up, operating, and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers, and other unit specific equipment.

· Become proficient in the use of the following computer systems: Military Health System (MHS) Genesis and Aeromedical Services Information Management System (ASIMS).

· Complete applicable provider training requirements as specified in BOMC training guidance after in-processing and submit required certificates to the MTF credentials manager. Additionally, healthcare providers conducting DRHAs will complete program orientation with a DRHA Program Office representative via phone. These are one-time training requirements.
