About the role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to focus on our core platform. You will drive the development of the critical infrastructure and systems that power our AI agent. Your work will encompass a wide range of areas including backend services, APIs, observability, automated testing, tool integrations, and infrastructure management. You'll help keep engineering standards high, define the experience for our earliest customers, and help lay the technical foundation for our company.

Ideally, these qualities describe you

  • You love building tools for fellow engineers. You consider it a craft.

  • You have strong software engineering fundamentals and have opinions on how to build robust, scalable, and secure software.

  • You’ve operated high-scale distributed infrastructure. You’ve seen it done right, and you’ve seen it gone wrong. Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, microservices, and all the usual suspects.

  • You've built complex systems at scale. We use Python, but value experience with systems languages (Rust, C++, Go) or JVM languages (Kotlin, Scala).

  • You're a strong proponent of DevOps practices, continuous integration, continuous development and automated testing.

  • You’re interested in AI and machine learning, even if it’s not your primary expertise.

  • You likely have 5 or more years of experience.

Examples of what you’ll do

  • Design and implement core backend services that support our AI agent's operations.

  • Develop and maintain APIs for internal and external integrations.

  • Build robust observability and monitoring solutions to ensure the reliability of our systems.

  • Implement automated testing frameworks to maintain high code quality and prevent regressions.

  • Optimize our infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the AI team to integrate and support AI capabilities within our core platform.

  • Help us iterate toward product-market fit in an early-stage, open-ended environment.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of our CI/CD pipelines.

Interview process (you'll meet most of the team via the process)

  • Intro call: We'll talk about your experience + the company, product & the role.

  • Software engineering session (1 hour): We’ll build a simple application together. Think practical software engineering and not leetcode.

  • System design session (90 mins): We will work through a system design problem with you. This will be related to the work you do daily.

  • ML understanding (60 mins): Talk to our AI engineering team, get a sense if you can work together effectively.

  • Food: Grab coffee / lunch / dinner with both founders. We'll talk about team culture, your motivations and get into any deep questions you have.

Compensation Range: $185K - $220K
