The Assistant Controller supportsthe Plant Controller in the direct supervision of the day-to-day general accounting functions and coordination month-end closing process, and daily/weekly monthly financial reporting. Assist in the development of financial plans and forecasts, and the analysis of operational results. Prime day-to-day responsibility will be cost accounting; monitoring and reporting inventories, standard cost revisions, and the operating budget will be key responsibilities.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with General Accounting functions such as financial reporting, fixed assets management, inter-company accounting, and daily expense analysis.
  • Assist with month-end closing including preparing and posting journal entriesreconciling monthly ledger accounts and helping establish accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing Raw material, Work-in-process, and Finished goods inventory.
  • Assist in establishing and monitoring standard costs for each product and monitor MRP reports like Inventory, cost absorptions, and variances. Manage and analyze standard costs, BOM, and routers.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly business review and Business Unit Staff meeting packages.
  • Assist in financial, internal, and governmental audits to maintain compliance.
  • Perform monthly testing of internal controls including SOX controls using Audit and self-assessed tools (ASAT) to ensure compliance with corporate standards and document observations using an online portal called Audit and Self-assessment portal (ASP)
  • Assist the controller in monthly/quarterly/annual forecasting/budgeting as needed.
  • Assist the controller in monitoring and analyzingKey Performance Indicators(KPI) and Key Financial Indicators (KFI) to identify operational process inefficiencies and recommend necessary improvements.
  • Provide budget and project analysis for capital expenditure. Assist controller with financial payback and ROI analysis on capital projects as well as post-implementation project review on completed projects.
  • Participate in the company's continuous improvement projects to assist in identifying opportunities and implementing cost-saving objectives.
  • Assist on special projects for plant, division & corporate management.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Business Administration major emphasis in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in a standard cost environment as an Accountant or Cost Accountant. Knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicants ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of directly related work experience - standard cost system, manufacturing, aerospace. QAD and Oracle ERP system experience is highly desirable.
  • QAD/MFG Pro/Oracle experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suites
  • Accounting license/certification

1. Experienced in Manufacturing environment

2. Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP, with solid analytical and strategic planning skills.

3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, self-motivation, and team-oriented skills.

4. Must be proficient with computer systems and programs (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, etc.) good spreadsheet skills.

5. Flexible and someone with a strong desire to learn.
