Technician roles are posted at all levels and will be filled based on skills, certifications, and experience.

The facilities maintenance technician is responsible for the upkeep of the facility. The position will entail preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of equipment within the facility. You will be responsible for evaluating equipment breakdown and conduct basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, dependability, and problem-solving skills. This position will be responsible for ordering spare parts, documenting hazards, and working with the safety committee to ensure the building's staff and occupants work in a safe environment. This is a non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime after 40 hours in a workweek and has no supervisory responsibilities.

An associate degree with 1 year or HS/GED with 2+ years of building maintenance is required. This position will require a valid driver's license and have the ability to work outdoors.

The person filling this position will spend approximately 60% working in and around the facility and 40% in the laboratory. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of and/or exposure to, animal tissue and zoonotic organisms. you will need to have the ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators. Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing, and ascending ladders without restrictions and ability to travel between Norton Shores and Muskegon sites
