Job Description:

Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the pharmacy; ensures compliance with patient care quality standards for all age groups; directs and controls the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals and related supplies; participates in the department's planning, revenue analysis, budgeting, education, and human resources activities. Interprets physician orders; acts as a drug information resource to staff and patients; compounds and dispenses prescribed medications for patient care.
Plans, organizes, and directs overall operation of pharmacy. Ensures compliance with various regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Works with hospital administration in planning, organizing, and directing pharmacy operations.

Directs and participates in the development/revision, implementation, compliance, and communication of policies, guidelines, and standards for the Pharmacy Department in accordance with Hospital policies, JCAHO standards, and State and Federal laws.
Works closely with the nursing staff, medical staff, and other department managers in addressing pharmaceutical services issues. Coordinates interdepartmental program planning and implementation efforts.
Establishes credibility with regard to pharmacy services in order to successfully market utilization of the pharmacy to the physicians.
Prepares operational and capital budget yearly.

Requirements:

Graduate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.
Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy
Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in Arizona.
